How is pearl jewellery created at Apearl?

Working with pearl jewellery is not only a pleasure, but also a kind of challenge. The world of pearls is rich, diverse in shapes, shades, brilliance - each one is an individual work of nature... Every day there are hundreds of gems in our workshop, which will later become part of exquisite necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc. So what does this process look like “from behind the scenes”?

Our long-standing tradition is to make jewellery by hand. The workshop is staffed by three craftsmen with extensive experience, who are not afraid of the art of knotting or matching a pair of pearls by shade - believe us, it is not easy at all :)

One of the key advantages of our atelier is that it is possible to personalise your jewellery - you can, for example, adjust the length of the string or change the colour of the pearls in a selected model.

World of pearls

But let's start from the beginning: the magic of creation begins in the warehouse, where the pearls and prefabricated pieces for the designs available in our shop are located. Each is assigned pearls with specific parameters, type, size, quality. This is a very important issue, as it affects the price of the jewellery - we describe more on this topic here.

Preparing the material for the atelier requires a great deal of knowledge and knowledge of the specific pearls.

The pearls are stored in various forms: pre-strung on cords, loose (drilled or not), as well as on pads where pairs are already attached ready to be used, for example, in post earrings.

In the warehouse, products are also prepared for our customers - a common case is the purchase of several different models to form a set, and it is the people in the warehouse who make sure that the jewellery looks its best together.

... pearl wonders are created :) Depending on the type of jewellery, appropriate steps are taken to select the right gems and ensure their durability. The basis, however, is precision and care, keeping an eye on details such as a cloth and water to preserve the perfect whiteness of the silk-nylon thread.

In the case of necklaces or bracelets, it is the knotting that is often mentioned in product descriptions. Why is this so important? Thanks to the knotting, the pearls do not rub against each other, they are protected and, when the cord is broken, they will not scatter around. Once the string is tied, the clasp is installed and excess thread is removed. This is why changes such as a different clasp or a change in length require the necklace to be made anew from scratch in order to maintain its durability and safety.

Pairing pearls sounds like something simple, but it's a process that requires a lot of focus and perceptiveness. Each pearl has its own natural overtone, white is never white. There can be warmer or cooler tones - this is particularly evident in the last photo: these are finished sticks of one model, yet each pair is different. There are differences in shape too: 3/4 round has a wide range of spreads and sometimes the pearls are more rounded, sometimes flattened. But the main thing is that when looking at them from the front, from the perspective of wearing them on the ear, they should be as similar in shape as possible. Finally, bonding and you're done!

The same goes for rings or pendants, but here you no longer need to look for a pair. Unless you are looking for a set of pendant + earrings.... :)

At the final stage, the pearls are returned to the warehouse, but already framed and ready to go on their way, to our customers, to become a styling accessory to make their day more pleasant.
