Snow-white pearls do not exist in nature!

Classic white pearls, which are currently in the greatest demand on the market, are obtained through physical and chemical processing of cream pearls. This kind of treatment is allowed as the so-called enhancement of cream-white pearls to snow-white, but it is not considered as adding an artificial color.

Each species of clam produces a different color, which is determined by the ratio of aragonite to conchiolin. For example: PINCTADA FUCATA from Japan produces white or white-pink colored mother of pearl, while PINCTADA MAXIMA from Australia, Philippines, Indonesia produces cream, yellow, pink, white-pink and white pearls, while PINCTADA MARGARITIFERA from Polynesia produces gray, steel, dark gray and black pearls with blue, green or eggplant reflections. UNIO pearl from rivers and lakes produces whitish or greenish-white pearls.

The color is also influenced by the characteristics of its water environment, such as water temperature, PH of the water environment, the plankton content  in the water or the presence of trace elements in the environment of the pearl (azurite - responsible for the blue color of the pearl, siderite - brown color of the mother of pearl, smitsonite - shades of gray, manganese compounds - responsible for fluorescence under the influence of X-rays and influence the white color).

For example, if the pearl mussel lives at a depth greater than 10 meters, the color intensity of the pearl will change. For example, the fact that the pearl mussel lives at depths greater than 10 meters will change the color intensity of the pearl. The overall perception of the color of pearls consists of: the basic color (the color of the mother of pearl) and optical effects caused by the phenomena of light diffraction and interference (overtones, orient). The following colors are considered primary colors: pink, cream, silver, yellow, black, blue, green and brown with varying degrees of intensity and brightness.

Let us enjoy the palette of colors provided by nature, and let us associate snow-white pearls with the glare of snow so eagerly awaited at Christmas.
